  • Poole Harbour: Take a boat trip from Poole Quay around the second largest natural harbour in the world and stop off at Brownsea Island Nature reserve - recently featured on BBC TV's AutumnWatch series - and home to red squirrels as well as being a bird watcher's paradise
  • Rockley Sailing School: The quiet waters of Poole Harbour is on the of the best places in the UK to learn to sail as it is sheltered and very shallow
  • Poundbury: Just outside Dorchester, this is the now internationally known small town development sponsored by Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales
Accommodation with Gardens nr Poole, Dorset

The seaside towns of Swanage and Weymouth (where the 2012 Olympic sailing events took place) both have sandy beaches and good diving opportunities. Swanage and Weymouth are about 40 minutes away by car, as is the old Cathedral city of Salisbury.

Canford, Bryanston and Milton Abbey Schools are also within easy reach making this an ideal location for visiting these schools on Sports Days, Exeats, Prize Days or for similar events.

For those interested in gardening or gardens generally, there are some fabulous gardens in the area that can be easily visited. For example Abbostbury Sub-Tropical Gardens (this is close by the world famous Abbotsbury Swannery), Compton Acres, Mapperton, Sticky Wicket and Knowle Gardens.
